If there are more digits to the left of the decimal point than there are placeholders, the extra digits are displayed. If the format contains only number signs to the left of the decimal point, numbers less than 1 start with a decimal point for example.

You can include any of these characters in your format string. They will appear in the result of Text as is. Additional characters are reserved for future placeholders, so you shouldn't use them. The Text function is globally aware.

For a wide array of languages, it knows how to properly write out dates, times, currencies, and numbers. To do its job, it needs two pieces of information:. For both, you specify the language by using a language tag. To see the list of supported languages, type Text"", in the formula bar or the Advanced tab of the right-hand pane, and then scroll through the list of locales suggested for the third argument. If you specify a custom format without a language placeholder and the format is ambiguous from a global standpoint, the language tag for your current language is inserted automatically.

In a future version, the syntax of this placeholder may change to avoid confusion with a similar, but different, placeholder that Excel supports. By default, Text uses the language of the user running the app.

The Language function returns the language tag for the current user. You can override this default value by supplying a language tag for the third argument to Text.

Unless otherwise specified, the user running these formulas is located in the United States and has selected English as their language. The Language function is returning "en-US". A custom format, which comprises a string of placeholders that define, for example, whether numbers show a decimal separator and dates show the full name of the month, the month as an abbreviation, or the month as a number.

Power Apps supports a subset of the placeholders that Microsoft Excel does. In this string, the language placeholder specifies the language in which to interpret the other placeholders. If the custom format includes a period, for example, the language-format placeholder specifies whether the period is a decimal separator ja-JP or a thousands separator es-ES.

The names of the month and day of the week aren't abbreviated. For example, use the format. In Power Apps, add dates and times to a canvas app, and format them to show the right level of detail or to reflect your locale. Calculate the amount of time between two dates, or calculate a date that's a certain amount of time before or after a date that you specify. Convert dates to or from separate values for days, months, and years, and convert times to or from separate values for hours, minutes, and seconds.

For example, add data from users about stock trades or client meetings, data from an external source, or data from another app created in Power Apps. If that data includes times down to the millisecond, round it to the nearest minute for simplicity.

Calculate how many days remain before a major milestone. If you want to schedule client meetings every five days, calculate those dates automatically. If May 10,is stored in separate fields for the day, the month, and the year, consolidate them into a single value.

Conversely, break each date into separate values if your app manages them separately. Show text in a Label control by setting the value of its Text property.

Set this property by typing directly into the control or by typing an expression in the formula bar. The control shows the number of days between today and January 1,by using these functions:. ShowText shows the number of days between today and whatever date you type into BirthDate. If your birthday has already occurred this year, ShowText displays a negative value.

Convert dates and times from strings of text to values, which you can format in a variety of ways and use in calculations. Specify the format by using built-in and custom options. ShowDate shows the same information that you typed, but it's been converted from text to a value and formatted differently. For example, the year appears as four digits instead of just two.

Text, "fr". To display a list of other locales in Intellisense, remove the closing quotation mark and fr from the formula, but leave the open quotation mark:. TextDateTimeFormat. The DateTimeFormat parameter supports several other built-in formats.

This is just a regular, multiline plain text input field. Any ideas why this is happening? I've tried looking to see if any formatting is applied, but it's really just a straight up text field. Go to Solution. Normally when I see this it is because the multi line text column in SharePoint is set to use enhanced rich text.

Yes, RegEx expressions can be use in PowerApps, too! Match — Lets you know what in the string of text matches a certain pattern, such as finding an email address somewhere in a text box and letting you know what the email address is. MatchAll — Lets you know all matches of a certain string or pattern within another string. First, it will help to rename the text box, instead of DataCardValue7 or whatever it is by default. Rename it to txtBusinessPhone. For starters, I just want to show the fill color of the text box as red if the pattern is not my phone number pattern.

Select txtBusinessPhone, and go to the Fill property of this control. Since IsMatch will let us know a boolean true or false whether or not the text matches the pattern, then we can use this IF formula to set the color depending on if the text matches. If IsMatch txtBusinessPhone. Put this in the Fill property:. To accomplish this, there are a couple of other settings to tweak. These next couple of steps are going to be different for you, depending on if your phone number needs to be a required field or not.

Is it required? This will automatically be in place if you have the column set as Required in the SharePoint list. Select the card. Go to the property called Update. Use this formula. Basically, when the form is submitted, it will only submit this field if it matches the right pattern. Otherwise, it does not submit anything, therefore a validation error will occur. If someone types the wrong number pattern, the fill color will show red and the usual out-of-box validation error.

Select your text box, and go to the HintText property.

Formatting

Type your pattern as you want people to see it as an example when filling out the form. Another place you may want to show an example is in the tooltip. This is the text that you see pop up in white when you hover over a field while filling out the form.
